Terms and Conditions

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR TOURS AND PACKAGES ONLY.

(For Air tickets and cruise only sales, please refer to air operators' and cruiselines' policy respectively.)

RESERVATIONS AND BOOKING 

Reservations for our tour or packages can be made by calling us or sending us an email. After confirming the reservation, deposits have to be received within 7 days and within 3 days if involving cruise in order to continue to hold the reservation. A written confirmation will be sent after the deposit is received.

DEPOSIT

A deposit of CA$300.00 per person for land tours and packages and CA$500 for cruise tours. Other deposit requirements may be imposed for specific tour or packages.

AIR TICKETS ISSUANCE 

After payment of the initial deposit, air-ticket for some packages will require immediate issuance to ensure space is reserved. According to the current airlines regulations, all travel participants must issue the ticket right after their tickets have been confirmed by the airline concerned. Tour participants will be required to make full payment for the issuance of the air-ticket. The payment to issue air-ticket/s constitutes partial payment of the tour price. The refund policy for the air tickets will subject to rules and regulations of the airline/s concern.

FINAL PAYMENT 

Full payment is required 45 days prior to departure and 75 days for cruisetours. Failure to make final payments will result in automatic cancellation of reservations and forfeiture of deposits. If a booking is made within 45 days prior to departure and 75 days for cruisetour, customers are required to pay in full at the time of confirmation.

CANCELLATION PENALTIES 

All cancellation of bookings for tickets for theatre performances, concerts, sports events and similar arrangements, payments inclusive of any handling charges, will not be refunded.

Cancellation on tour bookings require written notifications. Penalties for any cancellation are subject to the following terms and assessed based on the date of receipt of the cancellation request:
Air ticket and Hotel Packages or Hotel Packages only: (Air ticket cancellation will follow the airline's rules) After the booking has been confirmed, a handling fee of $20.00 per person will be assessed if cancellatio nis received within 8 - 21 days before departure. Within 7 business days prior to departure, first night charge with a minimum penalty of $100. No show will forfeit all payments.
Tour (including Land Only tour and full service tour): 45 days or more prior to scheduled departure date: $100.00 administration charge. (The administration charge will be wavied if rebooked for other tour or departure. Cancellation within 45 - 15 days prior to departure: 40% of the tour price per person will be charged. For cancellation within14 - 7 days prior to departure: 75% of the tour price per person will be charged. Within 7 days prior to departure and after departure: 100% of the tour price per person (purchase of cancellation insurance at time of booking is strongly recommended)
For Cruisetour bookings, the initial deposit will be raised to $500 and deposit amount will be the cancellation fee if cancelled between 70 - 45 days before departure.

REFUNDS ON UNUSED SERVICES 

Regardless of reasons, unused services of the tour or packages including transportation, hotel accommodation, meals, sightseeing and entrance fees are non refundable nor exchangeable.

TOUR PRICE AND CURRENCY FLUCTUATIONS

Tour price may include air transportation and land arrangements as described in each tour package. Tour prices are quoted in Canadian Dollars. In case of unexpectedly volatile currency fluctuations or other reasons, all prices are subject to change even when a deposit was made, there will be no cancellation penalty if customer decided to opt out.

EXCLUSIONS FROM TOUR PRICE

Tour and package prices do not include: meals not specified in the itinerary, optional tours, all domestic and international airport taxes and fees, departure taxes, charges for passports, visa, port tax, excess baggage charges, Canadian Navigation Surcharge, all items of a personal nature such as laundry, liquor, usage of telephones, faxes and telexes, travel and baggage insurance, gratuities and tipping for tour guides, driver, tour manager and any items not specifically mentioned as included in the tour price.

PASSPORT AND CHINA VISAS

All tour participants require a valid passport for travel and the passport must remain valid for at least 6 months after the scheduled date of return of the tour. It is the sole responsibility of tour participants to obtain valid travel documents and travel visas for the tour. Great China Tour will not be responsible for alternate or additional land or air arrangements due to improper travel documentation and no refund will be made under such circumstances. Great China Tour will give all tour participants help and advices on obtaining the appropriate visa/s.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS 

Certificates of vaccinations are normally not required; however, this is subject to change with government emergency announcements. All tour participants are advised to be physically capable of handling strenuous walking and some stair climbing. If under any circumstances the tour participant is not able to finish the tour due to physical ability, Great China Tour will not refund any unused services as stated above and will not be responsible for any extra cost of leaving the tour early.

* TRAVEL AND MEDICAL INSURANCE Great China Tour strongly recommends all tour participants to purchase trip cancellation, hospital, medical, accident and baggage insurance to protect their travel plans.

* AIR TRANSPORTATION All air ticket prices quoted are based on round trip economy class airfare from the specific gateways only. Airfares may be subjected to change by the airline without prior notice.

LUGGAGE HANDLING AND ALLOWANCE

Great China Tour is not responsible for any lost or damaged luggage under any circumstances. It is highly recommended that tour participants purchase luggage insurance for their protection. Tour participants must be able to lift and transport their own luggage over a short distance as porter services may not be available at all hotels, airports, cruises and ferry terminals. For transpacific flights, airlines usually limits to two (2) pieces of check-in luggage weighing to a maximum of 23 kg (50 lb) with sum of dimensions not exceeding 158cm (62 in). The luggage limitations are subjected to the discretion of each airline that tour participants chose and may change. Please check the airline's website or ask our agent for updated information

* MEALS ON TOUR Meals will be provided as specified in the itineraries.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS

Great China Tour will provide deluxe class hotel accommodations as stated in the itinerary but will reserve the right to substitute hotels of equal standard whenever necessary. There will be no refunds for any differences in the cost of the accommodations.

TOURS ESCORTS 

All tours include a local English/Chinese speaking guide for each city. The local guide will meet the tour group upon arrival and accompany the tour group until they depart for the next city. For tour group with the size of 15 or more participants, a tour leader will escort the group departing from Vancouver.

TRANSFERS AND SIGHTSEEING 

All transfers and sightseeing are operated by the mode of transportation specified. For travel in trains, standard/ordinary class will be used. For Bus tours, air conditioned coaches will be deployed.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE COMPANY 

Great China Tour acts solely as an agent for its suppliers and contractors providing transportation, accommodation and other related travel services. As a consequence, Great China Tour will not accept any responsibility or liability for damage, loss, delay, injury, or accidents due to strikes, weather, acts of God, acts of governments or authorities, wars, thefts, and failure of any means, discrepancies or changes over which it has no control. Great China Tour does not own nor operate the hotels, coaches, airlines, or any other service providers involved and will not be responsible for changes, omissions and/or cancellations by these independent suppliers or contractors. However, Great China Tour will do its best to ensure a safe and smooth execution of the tour even under nonfavourable circumstances.

RESERVATION OF RIGHTS 

Great China Tour reserves the right to decline, accept or retain any person as a member of any tour at any time during the entire tour if it deems necessary. Great China Tour reserves the right to withdraw any tour, to substitute hotels if necessary and to make such alterations in the itineraries as may be found necessary for the proper execution of the tours. Great China Tour reserves the right to adjust tour prices in the event of unexpected increase in airfares, government taxes and fees, fuel surcharges, entrance and park fees as well as currency fluctuations.
